Whether you’re looking for a romantic meal for two or a local and authentic dine-in on Bondi Beach – A Tavola is the cosy spot to be.
A Tavola in Bondi Beach is renowned for fresh pasta rolling by day on a very long traditional marble table. By night, this spot serves a luxe menu encompassing homemade Italian pasta, fresh seafood and an extensive Italian wine list.
We started with succulent sautéed and seasoned mushrooms on a bed of green peas, mint and ricotta salata. This meal was perfectly paired with the CRUDO di Pesce which was a fresh serve of Black Kingfish, radish, cucumber, pomegranate and salmon roe.
For mains, we ordered the signature PAPPARDELLE con RAGU di MANZO e RAFANO. Served with mouth-watering slow cooked wagyu beef shin in a puddle of home made red wine, tomato and horseradish.
This traditional Italian recipe not only boasted of seasonal and fresh ingredients, the fact that the pasta was made on site truly showcased a sense of warmth and passion for authentic pasta. The Mediterranean atmosphere at A Tavola is a collection of passionate people, artisans, farmers and producers. The next dish we revelled in was the CAPPELLETTI con RIPIENO di CARBONARA – filled with the finest pecorino cheese and topped with crunchy pancetta and lightly grilled zucchini.
For dessert we indulged in two of their finest Italian sweets; the dessert of the day, a classic Italian Tiramisu and a regular on the menu, the Cremino Al Cioccolato. The Tiramisu was one of the best we’ve had in Sydney, and the Cioccolato was a cup-filled-stack of hazelnut, chocolate, salted caramel gelato and two Italian meringues on the side.
Overall Al Tavola is a hospitable spot, with dim-lighting, friendly waiters and a homely feel. Definitely a local spot that takes you through the streets of Italy – from the beach of Bondi!
